Put your hands in your own pockets

August 10, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

This is what I would like all our politicians at the local, county, state and federal government to do: All of you put your hands in your own pockets because I am sick you putting your hands in my pockets. I see Tiffin City Council is going to ask for a tax increase. Well, let's see, haven't the schools just hit us up because they were going to close since the sky was falling. Then I read an article outlining spending ... wait a minute, we are out of money ... oh, that's right, we gave them more. Actually, I thought Tiffin already had closed because we have no money. Somehow I keep reading about spending.

I just went through a two-year layoff. We just had one of our children graduate from college with another one in college. As a lot of parents know, that is a great accomplishment, but it is a huge expense on the parents and the child. We have back medical bills that need to be paid. I'm driving a 1992 F-150 pickup with 350,000 miles on it ... you know why ... yeah, that's right, I can't afford to buy a new one, so I maintain what I own.

My point is you cannot keep hitting us citizens up for more money. We don't have it! Today it is just a fact of life we live with what we have, we deal with cut backs, layoffs and taking on more responsibility.

There are a lot more people out there than just myself who feel this way and are dealing with the same things. So for those people, I'm going to say it: "Put your hands in your own pockets and stay out of mine."

Sincerely,

Mark Wade,

Tiffin
