Kenneth W. "Ken" Laugherty, 65, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 7, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Tiffin, to Audley William and Evelyn (Shelt) Laugherty. He married Sharon R. Chaney Aug. 22, 1962.
Survivors included his wife, Sharon of Tiffin; son, Jim (Kelly) Laugherty of Tiffin; two daughters, Lavenda (John Rice) Baker of Bradner and Jennifer (Dion) Tey of Fostoria; two brothers, Bruce (Sue) Laugherty and Larry (Carolyn) Laugherty both of Tiffin; a sister, Ann Mathias of Michigan; two half brothers, Raymond Platt of Bascom and Paul (Loretta) Platt of Tiffin; a half sister, Juanita Deffbaugh of Florida; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wade J. Laugherty; two half brothers, William Laugherty and Robert Platt; and two half sisters, Dorothy Caudell and Jeannie Rodgers.
Kenneth graduated from Terra State Community College with a degree in applied science. He was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church and retired in 2000 from Basic Refractories, after 35 years. He was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge No. 846. He was a handyman and enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing and walking his dog. He also was a Cleveland Indians fan. Kenneth especially loved cookouts with his family.
His funeral will be noon Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Pastor Tress Hodkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the funeral home.
