In an effort to combat childhood cancer, local Tiffin residents are to host an Alex's Lemonade Stand at the Tiffin farmers market 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday on South Washington Street.
The lemonade stand event is to be hosted by the Lutz and Roszman families. Adalyn Lutz, 3, recently had a port removed after finishing chemotherapy for leukemia. Sam Roszman, 8, finished his chemotherapy treatment in November 2010, and his brain stem tumor/astrocytoma is stable.
Shoppers are invited to stop and meet them.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front-yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra Scott. In 2000, the 4-year-old announced she wanted to set up a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for children with cancer. Since that first stand, the foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement.
