John J. Leifheit, 78, of Tiffin, died at 8:44 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
John was born Dec. 9, 1933, to the late John James and Helen Marie (Hazelton) Leifheit. He married Sharon Weber Oct. 29, 1977, in Tiffin, and she survives in Tiffin.
John also is survived by seven children, Frank Leifheit of Kennewick, Wash., Dee-Dee Leifheit of Pittsburgh, Pa., Steve Leifheit of York, Maine, Alex Leifheit of Florence, Ky., Carol Greet of Jupiter, Fla., Larry Peck of Powell and Ronnie Peck of Yadkinville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
John worked for the Division of Wildlife for 14 years and later retired from ICP, Tiffin. John served for the past 10 years as the Seneca County Veterans Service commissioner and was a United States Navy veteran.
There will be a celebration of John's life 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the American Legion, Tiffin, where a meal will be provided.
