RACING: Rob Chaney dominated the O'Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprint feature Friday at Attica Raceway Park, leading all 30 laps to claim his ninth career win at at the track. He even avoided a run-in with a lapped car with two circuits left to get the victory in the Kistler Racing Products FAST (Fremont Attica Sprint Title) Championship Series event. Chris Ross took advantage of early leader Rusty Schlenk suffering a flat tire to take the Summit Racing Equipment UMP Late Models race. Paul Weaver's return after six weeks for a surgery led to a victory in the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints, thanks to a pass of defending track champ Nate Dussel on a re-start with five laps to go. The win was Weaver's 29th overall and his first this year, keeping him atop the track's all-time win list for the division.
OLD FORT: Practice for Old Fort High boys and girls interested in running cross country this fall begins Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the school.
GOLF: Four teams tied for first in the Senior League at Clinton Heights. The teams of Herb Love, Harry Smith, Tom Holz, Jim Kimmell and Dave Seislove; Bob Waltermyer, Bill Dunlap, Bob Teach, Bob Overholt and Jim Radcliff; Jim Ruess, Sonny Hatton, Lou Griselding and Craig Neifer; and Carl Rainey, Bernie Tiell, Mark Griffin, Tom Holmer and Norm Murray shot seven under par. Prize holes went to Greg Bishop (long putt No. 13), Pat McCarthy (closest in one No. 11), Bob Shultz (closest in two No. 10), and Nub Scherger (closest in three No. 17).
n Dan Colatruglio leads Bill Bonham 8-7 1/2 in the standings of the Clover Club League at Clinton Heights, with Matt Kraut and Jim Frederick tied for third with 7 points. Jason Hoffbauer's 39 took low gross, and Colatruglio shot a 28 for the low net. Hoffbauer claimed two skins and Bob Grothaus, Ken Ritzler and Joe Blust each had one. Prize holes went to Louie Brickner (long putt No. 15), Tony Latona (closest to pin No. 11), Frederick (long drive No. 18), Dan Roessner (closest in two No. 13) and Bonham (closest in three No. 17).
COLUMBIAN: The mandatory OHSAA informational meeting for middle and high school student athletes and their parents is Monday at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. At least one parent and the student-athletes must attend.

BASEBALL: The Legends of the Fall Baseball League is taking applications for prospective baseball players in grades 9-12 for the Fremont Ross High's fall baseball program. Applications will be accepted until Aug. 31. Cost is $60. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Players should bring all equipment needed to play except their jersey.
