Evelyn Kay Smith

Evelyn Kay Smith, 59, of Tiffin, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 2, 1952, in Somerset, Ky., to James Everett and Cathern (Ard) Van Hoosier. She married Thomas John Smith Dec. 18, 1971, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Sycamore, and he survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Cory Mitchell Smith of Tiffin and Matthew Thomas Smith of Delaware; a daughter, Julie Renee Fawcett of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Jenna Fawcett, Jorie Fawcett, Colin Smith and Evan Smith; a brother, Dennis Van Hoosier of Bucyrus; three sisters, Alice Valentine of Sycamore, Joyce Seitz of Fremont and Linda Moyer of Tiffin; many cousins, friends and fellow workers in the nursing profession; and her dog, Otis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Van Hoosier.

Evelyn was a 1970 graduate of Mohawk High School and North Central Tech, Mansfield. She was working at E.C.I. at the time of her death. She had been a homemaker and an LPN at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

Visitation with family and friends will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-3113.

Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Charles McGlone. Burial will immediately follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Tiffin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Opportunity Center or to Autumnwood Auxiliary in care of the funeral home.
