A private tennis coach accused of having sexual conduct with a 17-year-old girl appeared in court Friday where he was released on a personal recognizance bond.

David A. Kimmet, 64, of Tiffin, appeared for a bond hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom on two counts of sexual battery, a third-degree felony, and two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, a fifth-degree felony, according to court documents.

A court spokeswoman said Kimmet was ordered to have no contact with the minor and was deemed eligible for house arrest.

Kimmet was arrested last month for allegedly having sexual conduct with a female student between January and March this year. Numerous electronic instant messages that were of a graphic sexual nature believed to have been communication between Kimmet and the girl and nude photographs of the girl were found during an investigation.

He was indicted on the four charges last week after his case had been bound over from Tiffin Municipal Court to Seneca County Common Pleas Court.

Kimmet is scheduled to appear in court again Aug. 1.
