ATTICA - Athletic director Frank Speziale updated Seneca East Board of Education Monday night on the offering of additional participation opportunities through freshman sports or JV-B teams, allowing freshman and first-time players the opportunity to participate.
The board approved the offering with minimum team requirements.
He announced a meeting for fall sports participants for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2.
With the approval of the June 30 financial report, the board approved disposal of email records per the district's records retention schedule, transfer of funds to Severance Fund and transfer of funds to the Athletic Fund.
Under new business the board approved a resolution to declare transportation impractical for certain students, and updates to the board policy manual per NEOLA recommendations.
A 25-cent increase for lunch prices was approved.
Personnel items approved for the coming school year include:
Resignation of Stephanie Meyers, intervention specialist.
A one-year limited contract to William Roth as intervention specialist.
A one-year contract to Ray Adelman as cleaner.
A one-year contract to two half-time reading recovery teachers.
A one-year limited contract to Andrea Schimpf as district library/media center specialist.
A one-year contract with a 90-day probationary period to Kevin Keaton as bus mechanic.
Adding Stephanie Shook to the substitute list as bus driver for this school year.
The board approved supplemental positions for this school year to Nicole Chaffee, varsity volleyball coach; Alexa Wilhelm, volleyball volunteer; Dave Stallings, JV baseball coach; and Ted Weaver, Jarron Ruffing and Chris Scherley as football volunteers.
Elementary principal Brad Powers announced the elementary open house will be 6 p.m. Aug. 14.
The board is to meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 27.
