FOSTORIA - Two people in the Veterans Traveling Tribute and Traveling Wall escort were injured in a motorcycle accident in Hancock County's Washington Township Wednesday afternoon.

A Hancock County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said Doug Strahm, 58, of Vanlue, was driving a 2003 Honda motorcycle during the escort. He lost control of the vehicle, laying it on its side, on SR 12, near CR 330, at 4:47 p.m. The motorcycle rolled twice, she said.

The spokeswoman said Strahm and a passenger, Angela Strahm, 56, of Vanlue, were taken to Fostoria Community Hospital, and their injuries were described as minor.

The spokeswoman said she did not know why Strahm lost control or whether the Strahms, who were about midway through the escort of several thousand motorcycles, were wearing helmets.

The crash broke the escort into two segments. She said personnel had to close the roadway so a tow truck could pick up the motorcycle.

"It wasn't a huge delay, but there was a delay," she said.

Washington Township Fire Department, Hanco EMS and Fostoria Fire Division assisted at the scene, she said.
