Edith F. Staib

Edith F. Staib, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, July 7, 2012, at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.

She was born June 22, 1921, in Tiffin, to Tebalt and Edith (Marsteller) Groman. She married Carl H. Staib Jan. 25, 1948, at 2nd Evangelical & Reform, and he preceded her in death Feb. 23, 2008.

Survivors include three sons, Harvey C. (Sue) Staib of Tiffin, Henry R. (Sherri) Staib of New York and Calvin E. (Jane) Staib of New Riegel; one daughter, Carolyn E. (Mark McCarthy) Hare of Hereford, Ariz.; one brother, Theodore Groman of Findlay; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Weikert and Dorothy Jean Kolar; and an infant grandson.

Edith graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1939. Growing up, Edith worked at her dad's store, Groman's Grocery. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, sang in the choir and also taught Sunday School. She was on the Seneca County Farm Bureau Council and a member of the United Women. She was a 4-H advisor, teaching girls how to sew. Edith enjoyed babysitting, quilting and was a seamstress. She was a farm wife and loved helping on the farm.

Her memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at St. John's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Pam Easterday officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 10 Main St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Seneca County Fair, Gideons International, 4-H Special Sewing Awards or a charity of the donor's choice.
