A barn fire at a South CR 35 residence destroyed hundreds of books and magazines Tuesday afternoon.
Attica-Venice-Reed Fire Chief Brett Meyers said the fire at 7712 S. CR 35 ignited after burning trash blew against the building, which he estimated to be 30 feet by 30 feet.
Someone driving by alerted the residents of the fire, Meyers said.

Damage to the building is around $8,000 to $10,000, but the exact value of the books and magazines that were stored inside of the building was undetermined.
According to reports from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, AVR firefighters were assisted at the scene by Attica EMS, Bloomville fire and EMS and New Washington firefighters.
Meyers said the fire, which was reported at 12:08 p.m., rekindled Tuesday evening and a contractor was expected to arrive to assist in digging and extinguishing it.
