Students to meet elected officials

Students interested in learning about local goverment have the opportunity to meet Seneca County and Tiffin elected officials Wednesday.

Officeholders are to take questions about the responsibilities and functions of their office. Most meetings will be about 20 minutes, and the event includes a tour of the Seneca County jail and a chance for sudents to register to vote at the Seneca County Board of Elections.

There is no cost unless students attend the Republican luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fort Ball Pizza, 91 N. Washington St. The luncheon is open to the public.

The tour is organized by Seneca County Republican Executive Committee Chairman David Koehl. Students do not need to commit to the entire day. For more information, call (567) 207-6911 or email senecarepublicanparty@yahoo.com.

Library offers teen programs

Teen Department at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to offer "Night of the Gummies" 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday in Frost Kalnow Room. Participants are to play a "Name that Constellation" game, make dioramas with gummy animals and then perform "surgery" on gummy participants.

Teen Department also is to offer "Beat the Heat Creature Feature" 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Frost Kalnow Room. The event is to feature the movie "The Birds." The movie is rated PG.

The programs are open to students entering sixth grade through grade 12 and are free. Refreshments are to be provided.

Family fun fest upcoming

SYCAMORE - Mohawk Community Library is to host a family fun festival 4:30-7 p.m. Friday as a finale for its summer reading program. Groups are to host a pulled pork sandwich meal and other activities, such as corn hole, dunking ball throw, basketball game, duck pond, pie-baking contest and more.

Seniors can comment on Medicare, SS

FINDLAY - AARP Ohio is inviting area senior citizens to "You've Earned a Say" Community Conversation 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hancock County Area Agency on Aging, 339 E. Melrose Ave., Findlay. The event is to be a forum for public input on the future of Medicare and Social Security.
