Calvin L. "Cal" Bishop, 83, of Marion, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, June 28, 2012, at Marion General Hospital.
Cal was born July 6, 1928, in Tiffin, the second of four children of Fred and Mabel (Raymont) Bishop. He graduated from Columbian High School in the Class of 1946 in Tiffin. Shortly following graduation, Cal met a beautiful young lady, Barbara Ray, at a high school basketball game in Clyde, in January of 1948. He quickly realized she was the one for him, and they were married 10 months later Oct. 23, 1948, at Clyde Methodist Church. Together they lovingly raised their four children, Beverly, Judith, William and Laura; and cherished every minute of their 63 years of marriage.
For three years after school, Cal raised hogs at Portage Farms, Woodville, until 1950 when he moved to Clyde, to work at JW Humbert Trucking. In 1957, he was transferred within the trucking company to Marion, where he worked until 1981. Later, he worked for Frayer Seed Company for 10 years, until he retired in 1993. Always keeping busy, he then worked part time for both Nachur's and Marion Steel.
