Elden C. Calmes, 88, of Fostoria, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his home.
He was born March 29, 1924, in Fostoria, to Joseph N. and Lucille C. (Schmitz) Calmes. He married Helen M. DeWitt Aug. 29, 1959, in Springfield, and she survives in Fostoria.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Also surviving are a son, Joe D. Oren of Fostoria; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Calmes of Carey and Thomas Calmes of Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by a his parents; a granddaughter; and a brother, Leroy Calmes.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. A Christian wake service will be at 4:45 p.m. followed by a New Riegel American Legion memorial service.
His Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria. Military honors will be rendered by the New Riegel American Legion.
