Rose Ann Nye, 77, of Chesapeake Court and formerly West Center Street, Fostoria, passed away Wednesday morning, June 27, 2012, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born June 24, 1935, in Fostoria, to the late Linus and Berneda (Clouse) Schalk. She married Ronald U. Nye Oct. 30, 1954, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and he survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are four children, Daniel A. Nye of Fostoria, Kathleen M. Brown of Findlay, Thomas E. (Jennifer) Nye of Hamilton and Patricia G. (Kevin) Hardy of Cygnet; six grandchildren, Randy and Jeremy Brown, Bethany, Matthew and Michael Nye and Elizabeth Hardy; three brothers, Donald S. (Dorothy) Schalk of Tiffin, Eugene L. (Betty) Schalk of Fostoria and Larry L. (Bernie) Schalk of Greenback, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Lou Lee of Fostoria; and 25 nieces and nephews.

Rose Ann was a homemaker and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and its Rosary-Altar Society. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. She was an active member of the Rosary-Altar's funeral dinner committee and had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross, delivered "Meals on Wheels" and had been a past Camp Fire leader.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 3:45 p.m.
Her Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with her nephew, Fr. David Schalk, presiding. A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery.
