KANSAS - Lakota Board of Education met Friday morning to select a replacement for outgoing Superintendent Rebecca Heimlich who retires Aug. 1. From 12 applicants, the board tapped Willard Schools Superintendent Dave Danhoff to fill the post.

Danhoff has 34 years experience in the education field with positions in Fostoria, Sandusky and Galion, before serving as superintendent with Mohawk, Clyde-Green Springs, Vanguard-Sentinel and three years at Willard.

Danhoff's annual salary is set at $94,000.

Heimlich had a request approved to extend her contract for a year to continue working on curriculum development, a project which she had led through special meetings with input from staff members. She has cited a wish to spend more time with her grandchildren as her main consideration for stepping down.
