Seneca County

Toddlers ages 12-36 months with an adult companion are invited to learn about turtles at 4:30 p.m. July 2 during Toddler Trot at Bowen Nature Preserve.

Children can examine turtles up close and go on a short hike.

Sandusky County

A Leave No Child Inside PLAY Day is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 30 at Wolf Creek Campground, 2701 S. SR 53, Fremont.

Kids can spend the day in natural play. They'll get a list of clues to find activity areas - cross the creek, build a fort, jump like a frog, make s'mores and other activities.

No registration required.

Children ages 6-12 are invited to "Becoming Cecile and Marie-Grace" Mondays in July. The program is 1-3 p.m. July 2, 9, 16 and 23 at White Star Cabin, 5013 CR 65, Gibsonburg.

Cecile and Marie-Grace are American girls who live in New Orleans in the mid-1850s. Each week will be an adventure related to a chapter in the book.

Full-moon canoeing is planned at 8:30 p.m. July 2, 3 and 4. Meet at the park office, 1970 Countryside Place, Fremont. The trips are for couples ages 18 and older, and two people must register as partners.

Hancock County

Children ages 3 and younger with an adult companion will have a chance to get slimy in a homemade, non-toxic slime at this month's Wee Ones program at the Discovery Center, Oakwoods Nature Preserve.

"Slimy Animals" is to take place at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday. Older siblings are welcome. The program includes a story, activities and a craft about worms. Suggested items are a swim diaper, change of clothes and towel.

Registration is required by Monday to join naturalist Michelle Rumschlag for a new young adult and adult series (ages 14 and older) during the summer. The series is called Nature 2.0 and the first program is about herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians.

"Nature 2.0 - What is a Herp?" is to take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Discovery Center.

Join the Millstream Astronomy Club for its annual Astronomy Day and Star Party at 7 p.m. June 30 at Riverbend Recreation Area shelter 5. Weather permitting, participants are to safely observe the sun and sunspots through a telescope.

Riverbend is off SR 568 east of Findlay at 16618 TR 208.

Walk and Stroll is for children ages 2 and younger at 7 p.m. July 5 at Lowe-Volk Park. Parents are invited to stroll with their children, focusing on the senses.
