Irene Elizabeth Walcutt, 91, of Athens, Ga., passed away at her home June 18, 2012, after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Tiffin, to Rule D. and Ruth E. Egbert. She lived most of her life in Tiffin and later in Fort Myers, Fla., and Sapphire, N.C.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy J. Doemel (William N.) of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Ann E. Kohler (John P.) of Bogart, Ga., as well as her grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Brown (David) of Monroe, Ga., Christopher D. Doemel of Lansing, Mich., and Grant P. Kohler (Katherine) of Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was affectionately known as "Great Walcutt" by her great-grandchildren Hannah L. Brown and Megan V. Brown, both of Monroe, Ga. She had one surviving sister, Jane Butdorf (Richard) of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dale E. Walcutt in February 2012; a sister, Dorothy Kegerreis (Darryl); and three brothers, John Egbert (Shirley), Rule Egbert (Edith) and Kenneth Egbert (Barbara).
Irene graduated from Columbian High School and attended Ohio State University. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Stars, Penthouse Club, and Y-Wives. She was active in two churches, Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin and Fort Myers Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Myers, Fla. Irene enjoyed golfing, sewing, gardening, scrapbooking and travelling the world with her husband.
A memorial service will be held for the family at Oconee Presbyterian Church, Watkinsville, Ga., at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23.
