Old Fort treasurer leaves post

OLD FORT - Timothy Coffman has resigned as treasurer for Old Fort schools to take the same position with Benton-Carroll Salem schools. His resignation was accepted "with regret," from the members of the board. Coffman went on record as saying he was grateful to the board and for the opportunity given him and the decision was not taken lightly.

North Central Ohio Educational Service Center will conduct the preliminary process of finding candidates, and the board will take over the process after the NCOESC has narrowed down the list of candidates.

The school board approved hiring Randi Eilrich for 7-12 social studies, Amanda Frankart as a 7-12 intervention specialist and Eileen Kleinfelter as a part-time elementary physical education teacher.

The school continues to make off-season improvements to the school. Jude Meyers announced the school will be painting all the buildings and scoreboards at the athletic facility, including the softball and baseball fields, to coordinate with one another.

In related news, Coffman reported that because of the damage done to the gym floor when the roof blew off in February, the floor will need to be redone this summer. Luckily, Old Fort had wood available for the project, but in order to match the new section to the old, the floor will need to be sanded and repainted. This, along with new scoreboards being donated by the school's Renovation Committee, will give the gym a new feel this coming year.

Meyers also reported on an update of the security system. The new system allows all video feeds to be viewed from one spot. The project involves adding six new cameras to the building and replacing any outdated or broken cameras. Visitors to the school will need to be buzzed into the building by someone in the school office, who will have be able to view a camera aimed at the front door.
