Preceding Connie in death was her loving mom and mentor, Martha Jane Wagner Hendricks.

Connie graduated from Mohawk High School in 1965 as salutatorian and continued her education by earning a bachelor's degree in 1968 from Bowling Green State University. She began teaching immediately and spent her entire career as a junior high teacher at Mohawk Local Schools. She worked in the reading and math departments for more than 35 years. After Connie retired, she loved teaching so much that she continued working as a substitute teacher for Mohawk, Carey, Seneca East and Upper Sandusky. Other job adventures that Connie tackled were a Wyandot County swim instructor for the Sycamore and Upper Sandusky Pools, Pamida and endlessly spoiling her beloved grandchildren.

When Connie wasn't teaching, she was participating as a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville, the Sycamore American Legion Auxiliary, the Mohawk Young Farm Wives, the former William Myers Chapter 196, McCutchenville, the Wyandot County Junior Fair Board and the Wyandot Squares Square Dancing Club. Connie also enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, working on the computer and taking care of her precious family.

Mrs. Aurand's visitation hours will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.

Her life and memorial services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville, with Pastor David Hendricks and the Rev. David Jones officiating. The final resting of the ashes will be at Seneca Memory Gardens, rural Tiffin.

A special tribute, specifically for a Mohawk student furthering his or her college education, can be made to the Connie Aurand Educational Scholarship Fund in care of Walton-Moore Funeral Home, P.O. Box 350, Sycamore, OH 44882.
