A private tennis coach from Tiffin is facing sex-related charges for allegedly having sexual conduct with a 17-year-old tennis student.

David A. Kimmet, 64, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual battery, a third-degree felony, and illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly having sexual conduct with a female student between January and March this year, according to a release from the Tiffin Police Department.

Numerous electronic instant messages that were of a graphic sexual nature and believed to have been communication between Kimmet and the girl had been turned over to police. A search warrant also was conducted at Kimmet's residence. There, nude photographs of the girl were found, according to court documents. The girl also admitted that sexual conduct occurred on more than one occasion, court documents state.

Detective Rob Bour of the Tiffin Police Department said Kimmet, a former Calvert tennis coach, is currently not employed by a school, but offered private tennis lessons for compensation.

The charges filed Tuesday in Tiffin Municipal Court stem from Kimmet's time as a private instructor.

Kimmet appeared in court Tuesday afternoon where his bond was set at $50,000. A court spokeswoman said Tuesday afternoon bond had not been posted. Kimmet is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing June 14.

Bour said the investigation continues.
