to feature ECI campaign
WFRO-FM radio hosts Brian Liskai and Scott Barman are to discuss "ERace the R-Word," an effort to change perceptions of individuals with developmental disabilities, in conjunction with "See My Abilities" campaigns Encouraging and Celebrating Independence Inc. initiated this year.
The Internet radio show is to air 6-7 p.m. Thursday.
Kellie Sears, ECI business development and marketing director, also is to discuss some of the services the enterprise provides, the pledge to remove the R-word in support of the Special Olympics and Best Buddies' worldwide movement called "Spread the Word to End the Word."

Church to host strawberry festival and 5K run/walk
BLOOMVILLE - Bloomville United Church of Christ is finalizing plans for its 55th annual Strawberry Festival Saturday at 33 N. Marion St., Bloomville.
The festival is to feature food made by church members including shortcake, pies, sandwiches, salads, chicken noodle soup, the famous "pig special" (shortcake, strawberries and ice cream) and other strawberry delights.
The second annual 5K Berry Run/Walk is to start the afternoon's events at 4 p.m. The cost for the 5K is $15 and registration starts at 3 p.m. Awards are to be given to the top two places of each age category.
Food is to be served at 5 p.m.
The festival also is to feature entertainment for all ages, including gospel music by One Voice at 6 p.m., and clown entertainment and carnival games.

Art to be auctioned
Tiffin Art Guild is staging its 6th annual fundraiser Sunday at Tiffin Train Depot on North Monroe Street, just south of the rail crossing. At 11 a.m., guests can preview the items being offered, and the auction is to start after noon. This theme is "Americana."
TAG is a non-profit group presenting, creating and supporting fine arts in Tiffin and surrounding communities. TAG offers space for artists to work, learn and share their skills and experience, as well as providing a professional gallery for the display and exhibition of art works.

Community Hospice to host summer camp for children
Community Hospice Care and Hospice of Wyandot County are accepting registrations for the annual Exploring Life's Changes summer camp. This four-day camp is for children ages 5-15 who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
The camp is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 12-15 at Community Hospice Care, 181 E. Perry St., Tiffin. Some activities also are to take place at Tiffin YMCA and St. Francis Earth Literacy Center. A group of professionals and trained volunteers are to facilitate creative activities to help youth express feelings, develop coping skills and have fun.
A fee of $15 is requested to cover the cost of supplies, but sponsorships also are available for participants. For more information or to register, call (419) 447-4040.
Hayes' concert series back
FREMONT - Fremont Community Theatre performers are to open the Hayes Presidential Center's 2012 Verandah Concert series Wednesday, with music from past and future theater-season performances.
The musical portion of the outdoor concert begins at 7 p.m. and is free. Everyone is invited to come early for an old-fashioned ice cream social at 6:45 p.m.
The Hayes center is at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues in Fremont.
Church festival coming
UPPER SANDUSKY - The St. Peter Catholic School Summer Festival is to take place 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday at the school, 310 N. Eighth St., Upper Sandusky. The festival includes dinners, sandwiches, a beer garden, a cash raffle, bingo and other games, supervised children's activities, rides and enterainment.
This year's school quilt was pieced by Rosa Thiel and quilted by grandparents and members of Transfiguration of the Lord Parish. Tickets are $1 each, six tickets for $5 or 13 tickets for $10. All proceeds benefit the school.
Northwest Ohio
art show looking for entries
BOWLING GREEN-Artists of all skill levels may enter the Northwest Ohio Community Art Exhibition, set for 7-9 p.m. June 29 in the art galleries at Bowling Green State University.
The show is open to artists 16 years of age and older from Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams and Wood counties. Entry fees are $15 for artists 16-18 years of age and $30 for artists 19 years and older. Each entrant is limited to three submissions.
The show is to open with a reception 7-9 p.m. June 29 and continue through July 22. Professional arts jurors will award more than $1,000 in cash prizes and gift certificates.
