'Heritage Days' planned in area
BOWLING GREEN - The Wood County Historical Center and Museum is to host a hog roast and barn dance in conjunction with the 28th annual Wood County Heritage Days 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 9 and 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. June 10. Wood County Heritage Days and the Power of Yesteryear Tractor Show include free demonstrations of corn shelling and milling, cross-cut sawing, candle dipping and butter churning. Pork sandwiches and other refreshments are to be for sale.
Terry Kimmel is to cater the hog roast 5-7 p.m. June 9 outside a former hog barn at the Historical Center. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. For advance tickets, call (419) 352-0967.
Local bluegrass band Acoustic Penguin is to play during the hog roast, pausing around 6 p.m. for a pie-eating contest that is open to the public.
The barn dance is to follow 7-10:30 p.m. in the pole barn. Doug Michaelis will be calling round, square and line dances. Refreshments will be available. Tickets for the barn dance are $10 for adults, $18 for couples and free for those age 12 and under. A combination ticket for the hog roast and dance is $20 for adults and $40 per couple.
Sunday, the annual barbecue fundraiser of Harlan's Chicken or pork is to be served by Wood County public officials. The dinner also includes two sides, roll and butter, homemade pies and beverage for $10 a plate. The Wood County Commissioners are to honor distinguished members of the county with the annual Spirit of Wood County Awards at 2 p.m.

Hospice to host summer camp
Community Hospice Care and Hospice of Wyandot County are accepting registrations for the annual "Exploring Life's Changes" summer camp. This four-day camp is for children ages 5-15 who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
The camp is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 12-15 at Community Hospice Care, 181 E. Perry St., Tiffin. Some activities also will take place at the Tiffin YMCA and St. Francis Earth Literacy Center. A group of professionals and trained volunteers are to facilitate creative activities to help youth express their feelings, develop positive coping skills and have fun.

Farmers' Market to begin June 9
The third annual Downtown Tiffin Farmers' Market, sponsored by the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Services is to run 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 9 on S. Washington St. between E. Market and E. Perry streets.
According to Chamber of Commerce President/CEO John Detwiler, the Market has been expanded from five events to six, with an additional market day scheduled for July 28. All other market days will continue to be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month through October. The dates are: June 9, July 14 and 28, Aug. 11, Sept. 8 and Oct. 13.
"We'll be adding some additional activities to each market day beyond our traditional Farmers' Market to make the event even more family-friendly," stated Detwiler. "Our opening market will be focused on children's activities and entertainment including sidewalk chalk art, face painting, corn hole and performances by All-In-Cheer."
