Three family members were injured, one critically, when their vehicle struck a pole in Pleasant Township Saturday morning.
Trooper Craig Franklin of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Sarah L. Gillmor, 34, of Tiffin, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse northbound on SR 53 when she attempted to make a left turn into a private drive. She turned into the path of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala that was being driven southbound on SR 53 by James A. Miller, 62, of Tiffin, he said.
Miller swerved to miss Gillmor's vehicle, and his vehicle struck a utility pole south of CR 61, Franklin said.
Miller was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital and then was transferred by Mobile Life ground ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. A hospital spokeswoman said she didn't have a patient by that name Sunday morning.
Two passengers also were injured.
Miller's wife, Wonetta L. Miller, 59, was taken by Life Flight from Fremont Memorial Hospital to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and was in fair condition Sunday morning.
Their grandson, Nicholas Young, 11, of Tiffin, also was taken by Life Flight from Fremont Memorial Hospital to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. The hospital spokeswoman said he was in critical condition Sunday morning.
Gillmor, who was cited with failure to yield while turning left, and her two passengers were not injured, Franklin said.
"Everybody was properly restrained," he said.
Alcohol and drug use were not suspected in the accident, which occurred about 11 a.m. Saturday, he said.
