Simon and Martha Rose Schalk of Carey are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary June 2, 2012, with a family dinner and party. They were married June 2, 1947, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
They are the parents of five children, Paul of Belleville, Mich., Sharon (Gene) Goshe of Tiffin and Phil (Jean) Schalk, Tim (Debi) Schalk and Ted (Valerie) Schalk, all of Carey. Eleven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, three stepgrandsons and three stepgreat-grandchildren complete their family.
Simon farmed and worked at a factory.
