The unemployment rate fell 1 percentage point in Seneca County from 8.8 percent in March to 7.8 percent in April, according to statistics released from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Out of an estimated 28,500 civilians in the workforce in Seneca County, 2,200 are unemployed, compared to March's figures of a 28,400 workforce with 2,500 without work.
The civilian workforce is the sum of people employed and seeking work.
The surrounding county with the lowest unemployment rate was Hancock County at 6.2 percent. Ottawa County had the highest rate at 10.1 percent.
The Hancock County unemployment rate dropped from 7.6 percent in March to 6.2 percent in April 2012.
Ohio's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.4 percent and the national rate was 8.1 percent in April. These are down from Ohio's April 2011 rate of 8.8 percent and the nation's April 2011 rate of 9.0 percent.
