Robert ‘Bob’ L. Recker

Robert "Bob" L. Recker, 84, of New Riegel, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 22, 2012, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.

He was born March 21, 1928, in Putnam County, to Louis and Anna (Schroder) Recker. He married Betty L. Lammers Nov. 26, 1953.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty; four sons, David (Barb) Recker of Tiffin, Roy (Kim) Recker and Rick (Amy) Recker, both of New Riegel, and Ken (Shelly) Recker of Tiffin; four daughters, Elaine (Tom) Perry of Tiffin, Carol (Dean) Crow of Chambersburg, Pa., Teresa (Brad) Lonsway of Tiffin and Mary Jo (Bob) Welter of McCutchenville; a brother, Donald (Betty) Recker of Ottawa; three sisters, Betty (John) Stechschulte and Patricia (Glenn) Deters, both of Ottawa, and Joyce (Kenneth) Goecke of Spencerville; 27 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory P. Recker in 2005; a daughter, Barbara Lynn Recker in 1978; three brothers, Ralph, Joe and Eugene Recker; four sisters, Mary, Cecelia, Ruth Ann and Dorothy; and a grandson, Matthew Recker.

Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and past member of the K of C. He moved to New Riegel in 1964 from Putnam County to farm and later retired in 1993. Bob worked for Tiffin Art Metal, as a welder for D.S. Brown Co., North Baltimore, and later in the maintenance department at Heidelberg University. He volunteered for the Seneca County Fairgrounds, maintaining the property.

His Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, and from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to Mass. A Christian wake will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or to the Chiara Unit at St. Francis Home.
