Rev. Malcolm Brook

Rev. J. Malcolm Brook, 78, of Attica, passed away surrounded by his family at his home, Friday evening, May 18, 2012.

He was born Jan. 27, 1934, in Richland Co., to James W. and Mary L. (Andrews) Brook. He married Mary Lu Bringman Aug. 2, 1952, in Shelby, and she survives in Attica.

Other survivors include four daughters, Cynde (Ron) Spyker of Bristol, Ind., Anita Larsen of Attica, Donna (Randy) Martin of Grove City, Pa., and Elizabeth (Gerald) Miller of Republic; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glen Brook of Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Beverly Jane Brook; and two sisters, Dorothy Oswalt and Juanita Huston.

Malcolm was a United Methodist minister, graduating from Garrett Theological Seminary. He served at the following churches: Pleasant City, Ohio, Attica United Methodist, Bucyrus Mt. Zion, Shelby Trinity, Bloomville United Methodist and Trinity United Methodist Church in Republic, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the East Ohio Annual Conference and was a US Navy Airman Veteran.

The funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Attica United Methodist Church, 98 Mill St., with Rev. James Humphrey, Rev. Thom Kalb, and Rev. Michael Padula officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the Attica United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica United Methodist Church or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
