Four Republic council members met with Mayor Bruce Lambert in special session Friday afternoon to hear the second reading of the ordinance setting the rate of pay for a part-time police chief at $12.50 per hour.
Midnight Friday was the effective time of Chief Randy Marfia's and the whole department's resignations.
When asked if a candidate has been chosen for hire during Monday's regular council meeting, Lambert stated he had no comment.
Council has two open seats to be filled.
Council meets at 6:30 p.m., Monday.
