Cycle crash injures Tiffin man

May 19, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

A Tiffin resident was taken by Life Flight Friday evening after an accident in Loudon Township in Seneca County.

Trooper Garry Odom of the Fremont Post of the State Highway Patrol said Justin Hohman, 21, of Tiffin, was traveling westbound on CR 18 on a motorcycle when he struck a 2000 Buick Century driven by Abby Cassidy, 17, of New Riegel.

Odom said Cassidy was traveling northbound on TR 66 and failed to yield from a stop sign at CR 18 and TR 66, pulling out in front of Hohman.

Hohman was thrown from the motorcycle and transported by Life Flight with unknown injuries. Odom said Friday night he didn't know the extent of Hohman's injuries or to where he had been transported.

Odom also said a helmet was found off to the side at the scene, but he was unsure whether Hohman was wearing it at the time of the accident.

Cassidy was cited as a juvenile traffic offender with failure to yield, Odom said.

Alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, he said, which occurred around 5 p.m. Friday.

Personnel from the State Highway Patrol, Seneca County Sheriff's Office and Bascom Joint Fire District and EMS responded to the scene.
