OF girls tied for lead at Eastwood

PEMBERVILLE - Old Fort girls took the top two spots in the high jump in the district meet at Elmwood, and the Stockaders left day one of the meet tied with St. Joe for the lead with 17 points.

Molly Cleveland won the high jump, clearing five feet, while teammate Stephanie Hill cleared 4-10. Both qualified for the regional meet next week.

Two area 4x800 teams qualified for regionals, as Calvert's squad of Marisa Horn, Lauren Reineke, Abby Sullivan and Olivia Smith placed second in 10:15.04, while Hopewell-Loudon's team of Kailey Coleman, Erin Reinhart-Anez and Cassie Reinhart finished fourth in 10:30.55.

The top four placers in each event advance.

3 area teams advance in 4x8

Calvert's 4x800 team of Jared Thompson, Ren Boehler, Joe Brodman and Steve Smith took first at the Division III district meet in Elmwood, one of three area squads to qualify for regionals in the event.

Old Fort's team of Zack Alexander, Marcus Meyers, Luke Edgar and Brad Bannister finished second in 8:30.14, while Hopewell-Loudon's squad of Marcus Ardner, Robert Kniss, Alex Wood and Aaron Lucius placed fourth in 8:50.05.

The Stockaders advanced a pair in the pole vault, as Nathan Alexander won the event, clearing a meet-record 15-0, while teammate Adam Alexander took fourth in 11-4. Another Stockader, Brice Taylor, qualified for the long jump in 19-5 1/2. He placed third in the event.

In the shot put, New Riegel's Brent Orians placed third in 46-1.

Decker's win leads Carey qualifiers at L-B district

FINDLAY - Carey's Taylor Decker won the discus, and the Blue Devils qualified a number of athletes for regionals at Liberty-Benton Thursday.

Decker threw 119 feet to win the event at the district meet, which will continue Saturday. The Blue Devils 4x800 team of Jaclin Troiano, Bo Underwood, Joanna Worst and Jenna Jesko finished second in 10:41.59 to qualify for next week's regional meet.

The Carey boys were led by Cory Larick, who took second in the pole vault (14-6) and fourth in the long jump (20-2 1/2) to punch his ticket for next week.

The Blue Devils' 4x800 team of Brandon Distel, Anthony Miller, Braydon Leist and Ben Kromer also qualified for regionals, finishing second in 8:52.3.

TC boys place two

Columbian had a pair of placers Wednesday at the Division I district meet at Frost-Kalnow Stadium, but no regional qualifiers.

Kyle Thom placed eighth in the shot put (45-10 3/4), while Josh Flint took eighth in the long jump (19-11 1/2).

The top four placers in each event advance to next week's regionals. The meet continues this afternoon at Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
