BETTSVILLE - The Bettsville Local Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Paul Orshoski Thursday night, effective July 31.
Orshoski was not present at the meeting, but his resignation was accepted by the four board members in attendance.
In another matter, Athletic director Mike Haynes said he is concerned with the number of students committed to next year's boys basketball team. He said there are 10 boys signed up, and only four are seniors, which could impact whether the team plays a varsity schedule.
Haynes asked the board to consider the team's options for next year.

The board approved the five-year forecast for fiscal years 2012-2016.
Principal Michelle Dantuono said the third year of Race to the Top is being planned for, which includes budget planning and adding value-added reports to teacher evaluations.
April 2012 financial reports were approved, as well as general fund, payroll and athletic fund reconciliations for April.
The board approved the Class of 2012 for graduation June 1. Sixteen students will receive diplomas, pending completion of all requirements.
Membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2012-2013 school year was approved.
A number of school policies were approved.
Bettsville American Legion was recognized for its donation of two new American flags, which are being flown outside the school.
Planning for the Summer 2012 Migrant and Migrant Image Programs was approved.
Employment of a transfer records clerk and a purchasing agent was approved.
The board is to meet next at 5 p.m. June 12.
