ATTICA - Bus operator Teresa Felter was recognized at the Seneca East Board of Education meeting Monday night. Felter participated in the Ohio Department of Education's Ohio School Bus Driver Safety "ROAD-E-O" and was presented with a certificate of recognition for being a member of the first place team.
She placed seventh individually and will be competing at the state level. It was noted that she has improved each year over the last six years.
Elementary principal Brad Powers noted in his report that kindergarten screening has begun and will conclude Monday. Thirteen open enrollment requests are part of the seventy-five students scheduled to be screened. He commended those who helped perform the screenings.

Congratulated Barb Bayer and SE Public Library on receiving Dollar General Literacy Foundation Summer Reading Program Grant of $2,000.
Kaleigh Krupp, elementary special education teacher, is to assist with "Book Buddies" program.
District treasurer Laura Brickner presented the financial report of April 30 which was to complete the GAAP basis financial report at a cost of $4,700 per year.
Following a public hearing by district superintendent Michael Wank for the Child Internet Protection Act in June, the board passed a resolution to graduate all members of the class of 2012 who have fulfilled all state and local graduation requirements.
Other items approved included:
Membership in Ohio High School Athletic Association for high school and junior high schools for upcoming school year.
Membership in NW Ohio Education Research Council for the upcoming school year is $200.
Amending ODE special education model policies and procedures appendix which summarizes when district must send prior written notice, informed consent and procedural safeguards notice.
After an executive session to discuss personnel contracts, the board approved:
A one-year teaching contract for Stephanie Meyer as LRC teacher.
A one-year teaching contract for Rebecca Bozo as elementary teacher.
A one-year teaching contract to Stephanie Gildenmeister as elementary teacher.
Students Dan Bartley, Adam Porter, Marshall Lucius for cleaning help, Dalton Wise half-time cleaning/half technology, Jacob Gurney substitute.
Kaleigh Krupp as summer intervention teacher.
A supplemental teaching contract for Kim Reesman for substitute teacher contacts at $600.
Hiring Staci Ringle to clean and prepare buses for inspection from May 29 to August 17.
Laurie Puckett as a substitute cleaner.
The next meeting of SE board of education is at 7 p.m. June 18 at the Board of Education office.
