Fostoria hospital

to host special events

FOSTORIA - ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital is offering "Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Community Health Fair 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Stacy's Place, 625 Plaza Drive, Fostoria.

Many screenings are to be offered for a fee and a variety of programs are to take place.

A plant sale is to take place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday and 7-9 a.m. and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday on the south lawn at the hospital. Proceeds from the sale are to be donated to the Walk for Diabetes Aug. 25.

Shepherd Center

to close out season

FOSTORIA - Shepherd Center is to have its May meeting Friday at Good Shepherd Home, 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria.

Registration and coffee begin at 9 a.m., with blood pressure screenings at 9:45. At 10 a.m. is a presentation on the Teddy Roosevelt whistle-stop in Fostoria. A buffet lunch at noon concludes the meeting.

Make lunch reservations by noon Thursday by calling (419) 435-1482. The Shepherd Center does not meet during the summer.

FELC to answer

gardening questions

The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center is to offer a class on container and raised-bed gardening 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Learn the secrets to an earlier and easier harvest of flowers and vegetables. The class also includes essential tips and techniques to have a healthy and productive container garden.

Perennials for sale

Seneca County Master Gardeners are to conduct their annual plant sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Tiffin Flea Market at Seneca County Fairgrounds.

A variety of perennials are to be available, and the gardeners can answer shoppers' questions.

Assembly of God

plans basement sale

FOSTORIA - A basement sale is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Fostoria Assembly of God, 728 N. Countyline St., Fostoria.

Shoppers can find household items, clothing, baked goods, candy and homemade noodles.

Proceeds are to be donated to Caring Hands Pregnancy Center.

Drive-in fielding

weekend flea markets

Field of Dreams Drive In Tiffin, 4041 N. SR 53, has begun weekend flea markets 9 a.m.-4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

Admission and parking are free for shoppers.

Sellers can secure a space starting at $10 per day. Food is available on the grounds.

Round table to hear talk on Lew Wallace

Johnson's Island Civil War Round Table is to meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at T.J. Willie's restaurant, 738 W. Market St., Tiffin. An optional dinner begins at 5:15 p.m.

Beginning genealogy class on tap Saturday

FREMONT - Becky Hill is to lead a beginning genealogy class 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont.

Farmers market slated

FOSTORIA - The next Fostoria Farmers Market is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at KeyBank, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.

A "flower power" theme has been chosen.

Car show Sunday

BELLEVUE - Historic Lyme Village is to host a classic car and truck show 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Door prizes and food are to be available. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12.

Raffle winner to get

family tree information

Through June 1, the Seneca County Genealogical Society is selling raffle tickets for $5 each, six for $25 or 10 for $40 for the chance to have family heritage researched by members of the genealogical society.

The drawing is June 5.

The winner also is to receive a notebook with data and photographs gathered by the researchers.

Walnut Grove begins annual benefit raffle

Walnut Grove Campground of Tiffin is gearing for its annual Children's Benefit Raffle.

Tickets are available now to win a 2012 E-Z Go street-legal gas golf cart.
