SYCAMORE Four area high school students recently joined forces with First National Bank of Sycamore to turn 10 boxes of candy bars into $500 cash to support the work of Tiffin's Patchworks House.
Audrey Flood, Sarah Runion, Liz Runion and Sarah Mulholland, juniors in Mohawk High School's "Economics for the 21st Century" class, chose as their final team-based assignment for the year to plan and carry out a philanthropic project titled "Candy for You, and Help Kids Too!"
The money raised is to go toward salaries at Patchworks House.
Service learning teams in this year's "Economics for the 21st Century" course have raised nearly $1,400 for local charities, including Patchworks House, Hospice of Tiffin and Humane Society of Seneca County.
