BASCOM - Logan Sendelbach scored twice and Alex Ratchen and Austin Kuhn both drove in a pair Saturday as Hopewell-Loudon shut out Seneca East 4-0 to capture the outright Midland Athletic League title.
The win pushed the top-ranked Chieftains (23-1) to 10-0 in the MAL with one league game to go. All other MAL teams have at least two league losses.
Tyler Tyree fanned six and scattered two hits and a walk to improve to 8-0. He also singled twice and scored.
Jordan Harrison doubled for H-L, Sendelbach lined two singles and Ratchen and Kuhn both singled.
Mason McWilliams took the loss for the Tigers (19-7, 6-4). Jordan Bowerman and Billy Diehm both singled.

SYCAMORE - Mohawk jumped ahead of Lakota with three runs in the first inning, which was more than enough for starter Andrew Loose. Loose blanked the Raiders on four hits, as Mohawk posted a 7-0 Midland Athletic League victory.
Jonathon Morter had a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Warriors (9-11, 5-3 MAL). Mitch Brown added three base hits and an RBI. Loose, Devon Fredritz and Zach Riedel all drove in runs.
SE doubles up Chieftains
BASCOM - Seneca East answered one rally with another and shut down Hopewell-Loudon in the seventh Saturday for an 8-4 Midland Athletic League win.
The Tigers (15-10, 8-3 MAL) snapped a 1-all tie with three runs in the third inning.
Hopewell-Loudon scored three times in the sixth to re-tie the game, but Seneca East countered with a four-run burst the top of the seventh and held on from there to get Rachel Bauman the win.
Samantha Walker scored twice and tripled for the Tigers, Bauman had two runs and two RBIs off a double and single and Lauren Sprenger doubled and singled.
Kristen Bowerman added a 3-for-4 effort with two RBIs.
Abby Park's triple and two RBIs paced H-L (10-16). Racquel Hossler scored twice and singled twice.
Kelsey Coppus took the loss.
Buckettes drop a pair
BUCYRUS - Buckeye Central softball dropped a pair of road North Central Conference games Saturday.
The team first traveled to Wynford, where the Royals got the best of the Buckettes 9-5. Wynford jumped ahead 5-3 with a three-run second inning. After BC got within one, Wynford iced the game scoring four in the fifth.
For Buckeye Central, Morgan Wurm had two base hits and two RBIs. Maddie Ehresman, Kendra Schultz and Sarah Alt all added RBIs. Alt, Brooke Myers, Kelly Redmon and Taylor Hanes had two-hit games.
BC then went over to Bucyrus where the Redmen scored a 6-5 victory. Bucyrus broke open a 1-0 game with five sixth inning runs. BC rallied for five in the seventh, falling just short.
Myers and Makayla Stover each drove in a pair of runs with Alt added an RBI.
Buckeye Central stands at 17-10.
