The Seneca County Sheriff's Office apprehended a burglary suspect early Friday morning while he was stealing items from a barn on SR 4.
Deputy Christopher Potter of the sheriff's office said the number of break-ins throughout the area has been increasing, and "it is extremely hard to catch one in progress."
Potter said the sheriff's office received a 911 call early Friday morning from the 7000 block of SR 4 stating people were in a barn stealing items. Potter said the same caller had reported two similar incidents at the same location earlier in the week, and he believed scrap was being taken from the barn. Potter said the caller mentioned watching the area, and said he dressed in camouflage and was watching the barn when he made the 911 call.

Potter responded to the scene as well as two units from the Attica police department. Potter said when they arrived, a blue pick-up truck was parked in front of the barn, and people were in the barn with flashlights. One fled on foot out the back door of the barn and was lost at the woodline after a chase, Potter said, and a second person, Daniel Colebank, 24, of McCutchenville, stepped out from hiding in the barn and turned himself in. Items had been loaded onto the truck, he said, and paperwork located in the truck was used for identification purposes.
Colebank was charged with breaking and entering, Potter said, as well as a drug paraphernalia possession charge. He is being held at the Seneca County jail on bond. The second person is not in custody, he said.
Potter said he believes the incident on SR 4 is connected with other recent break-ins, and he said Seneca County residents should know the sheriff's office "does everything we possibly can to catch these guys."
