Phillimore slams Old Fort to 1st MAL win

OLD FORT - Calvert got a solo homer from Matt Frank and led Old Fort 3-0 after two and a half innings.

Then the Stockader bats came alive.

A.J. Phillimore crushed a grand slam, and the Stockaders scored eight unanswered runs and won for the first time in Midland Athletic League play, beating the Senecas, 8-3.

Phillimore also picked up the win on the mound. He threw a complete game, striking out nine, allowing four hits and walking five. All three runs he allowed were earned.

Cole Davidson had two doubles and drove in two runs for Old Fort.

Alec Brickner allowed eight runs in taking the loss for Calvert. At the plate, he scored and drove in a run.

TC rolls in pair of wins

Columbian wrapped up one win Friday from a suspended game and overpowered Clyde again in the second to improve to 17-6.

The Tornadoes won the first, originally started on April 14, by a 16-6 margin before taking the second game 12-3.

Carter Mullins scored twice and chased in two runs with a double and single for TC in the first game.

Nick Loura added two RBIs off two singles and Jonah Boyer and Mike Rohrbach both scored twice and singled twice.

Nate Hoyda chipped in two runs, two RBIs and a single, Derec Blodget scored three runs and singled and Bradley Craig had two runs and a single.

Tyler Fuhrer (6-3) got the win in relief.

Columbian grabbed a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning in the second game to take control.

Daniel Wood (4-2) picked up the win, fanning six in 3 1/3 innings.

Fuhrer tripled, singled, scored and drove in a run for TC, and Logan Tracy went 2 for 3 with three runs, an RBI and a double.

Boyer scored twice and singled twice, Mullins went 3 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs, Bryce Lonsway singled twice and Wood had two RBIs and a single.

Brown's two-run shot lifts Rams

BUCYRUS - Beau Brown's two-run homer in the sixth inning was the key hit, as it sent Upper Sandusky to a 5-4 win over North Central Conference rival Wynford.

Cameron Binau pitched a complete-game five-hitter, while Justin Mattix had four hits and two RBIs for the Rams.

Upper Sandusky (11-12, 8-5 NCC) scored three runs in the sixth, as it sent eight men to the plate. The Rams' Adam Duress had three hits and scored two runs in the game.

Bucks cash in on insurance

MOUNT BLANCHARD - Tyler Erwin pitched a gem for Buckeye Central, leading the Bucks to a 2-1 North Central Conference victory over Riverdale.

Erwin allowed just four hits, striking out 11 without issuing a walk. Erwin also drove in Buckeye Central's first run,chasing home Justin Herrnstein in the third inning.

The Bucks (21-5, 9-2 NCC) tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Adam Paynter drove home Eric Hanes. The insurance run proved to be big as Riverdale tallied a run in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't tie it up.

Herrnstein had a pair of hits with a triple. Jacob Zeiter, Bryce Christy and Chase Finney all added base hits.
