Tiffin Park and Recreation Department is to host a Schekelhoff Park Nature Preserve walk at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Join a walk with nature education provided by Seneca County Park District Program Director Linda Rose.

Schekelhoff Park is on North Water Street near the Water Pollution Control Center and features a paved trail that provides accessibility along the Sandusky River.

Seneca County

Seneca County Park District invites amateur photographers to enter its 12th annual photo contest.

Categories include Seneca County Park District scenes, wildlife, nature and open. There also is a youth contest.

Deadline for entries is June 29.

A public viewing of entries is to take place at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve noon-4 p.m. July 8.

Hancock County

Hancock Park District invites people ages 5 and older to meet Natalie Miller, naturalist from Nature's Nursery, at 6 p.m. Tuesday as she uses live animals to discuss common misconceptions concerning orphaned wild animals.

She will be discussing strategies animals use to ensure the survival of their species and other topics.

The program is to take place at "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve. There is no fee, but registration is required by today by calling (419) 425-PARK.

Children ages 6-9 with an adult companion are invited to become junior paleontologists by participating in a Fun with Fossils program at 2 p.m. May 19 at the Discovery Center.

Register with $3 per child by Wednesday.

During the program Rikki Youngpeter, program assistant, is to discuss fossils and show some from the region. Participants then can experience a "dig" to find "fossils."

Oakwoods Nature Preserve is west of Findlay at 1400 Oakwoods Lane.
