NEW WASHINGTON - Buckeye Central coach Roger Durnwald was beginning to wonder if his team ever would play again.
After all, the last three Buckettes games have been rained out.
So when Tuesday's Division IV Sectional Final game against South Central rolled around after a heavy night of rain, it was looking like that it might be four straight.
"They were texting me all day asking if we were going to play," Durnwald said. "They didn't expect to play but they badly wanted to."
And it showed when the Buckettes (16-8) took the field against the Trojans as they rapped out 14 hits in a 10-4 thrashing of South Central.
"We jumped on them early and I played my young crew to give them a taste of a sectional," Durnwald said. "When it got close, I put the varsity back in the last two innings."
