ATTICA - Seneca East Local School District's board of education selected an English teacher from Cridersville to replace the school's retiring junior high and high school principal.

The board met Saturday morning and, following a 50-minute executive session, approved offering a two-year contract to Donald Vogt Jr., a teacher at Lima Shawnee High School, to succeed Judy Watson, junior high and high school principal.

Vogt had served as principal of Parkway High School from August 1999 to January 2000, dean and athletic director at Parkway from August 1999 to May 2001 and principal at Cambridge Middle School from June 2007 to May 2010, according to information from the district.

Treasurer Laura Brickner said Vogt is to be paid about $80,000 annually. The board also approved offering Vogt a contract to work on an as-needed basis in July at $350 per day.

In other business, the board approved offering Frank Speziale contracts to serve as athletic director and special education teacher, accepted the resignation of Matt Albright as bus mechanic, hired Shawn Dornan on an as-needed basis as the bus mechanic at $22 per hour and approved placement on the salary schedule for three employees.

The next meeting is 7 p.m. May 17 in the board office.
