NEW RIEGEL - Jake Dryfuse lined a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth Saturday to lift New Riegel to a 2-1 Division IV sectional semifinal win over Riverdale.
Dryfuse's hit knocked in Brady Hall, who led off with a walk. Brandyn Reinhart followed Hall with an intentional walk and Josh Nye singled to load the bases for Dryfuse.
The win propelled New Riegel into Wednesday's finals at 5 p.m. against Mohawk.
The Blue Jackets led 1-0 in the bottom of the first, with Andrew Hohman leading off with a single, stealing second and scoring on Reinhart's two-out single.
New Riegel left runners at second and third in the second inning, left the bases loaded in the third, and had at least one runner in scoring position in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings without coming home.
The 1-0 lead held up until the fourth.

Dryfuse got the win in relief of Reinhart, who struck out six over the first three innings.

SW squanders scoring chances
NEW RIEGEL - St. Wendelin couldn't take advantage of ample scoring chances and Arcadia strung the hits and an error together in the fifth inning to take control Saturday in a 4-2 Division IV sectional semifinal victory.
Arcadia moves on to face McComb at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The Mohawks looked to be headed there after taking a 2-0 lead with single runs in the second and third innings.
St. Wendelin went hitless for the first four innings, but drew nine walks over the first three innings. However, the Mohawks left the bases loaded in their first three at-bats and failed to get runners in scoring position home in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. St. Wendelin left 15 runners on base.
Meanwhile, the Redskins broke through in the fifth.
Grant Baker singled, Clay Moyer reached on a fielder's choice and Garrett Schling singled in Baker. Lucas Huntley's single loaded the bases and Loren Huntley followed with a grounder to short. However, Brad Buhrow's errant throw to start a potential inning-ending double play allowed Moyer and Schling to score.
Casey Mock followed with an RBI single for a 4-0 lead.
Trevor Colman got the win in relief of Mock, who also doubled. Lucas Huntley singled twice.
Brady Rutter had a single and RBI for St. Wendelin and Alex Galvan singled and scored.
George Iannantuono suffered the loss.
Raiders make early runs stand
BASCOM - Lakota struck for two runs in the top of the first and held off Calvert from there Saturday for a 2-1 Division IV sectional semifinal victory.
The Raiders advance to play Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Gibsonburg, who blanked Old Fort 5-0 in the other game.
Tiger Jaso's run, RBI, double and singled paced Lakota.
Casey Monroe singled and scored, and Gavin Sprow, Nick McDole and winning pitcher Nate Ray all singled.
Calvert coach Matt Coleman was pleased with the performance he got from his starting pitcher Ryan Huss, but said the team was lacking in other areas.
"Ryan (Huss) pitched a whale of a game, but (as a team) we didn't bring the intensity or approach it takes to win a tournament game," Coleman said.
Calvert's lone run came in the fifth.
Brian Gruss lined two singles and Derek Herzog and Alec Brickner each singled for the Senecas. Matt Iannantuono scored the run. Ryan Huss took the loss.
Old Fort bats go silent
BASCOM - Old Fort managed just one hit Saturday in a 5-0 Division IV sectional semifinal loss to Gibsonburg.
A.J. Phillimore (1-5) struck out nine in a losing effort for the Stockaders, with only two of the five runs he allowed being earned.
Cole Davidson singled for Old Fort.
The Golden Bears will play at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Lakota.
