Thomas J. "Tom" Knudsen, 72, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
Tom was born Nov. 2, 1939, in Beresford, S.D. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a carpenter, retiring from Cabinet Makers in 2005.
Tom was a member of Sandusky American Legion Post 83 for 43 years and was a member and past president of Erie County Conservation League. He enjoyed walks at Sheldon's Marsh, carpentry, feeding the squirrels at his home, gardening and landscaping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Judy (Renninger) Knudsen, who he married Jan. 28, 1967; two sons, Steve (Christy) Knudsen, Bellevue, and Scott Knudsen, Sandusky; four grandchildren, Tony, Tara, Ethan and Emma; a sister, Helen Kowalski; and a brother, Paul Knudsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian (Putnam) Knudsen; maternal and paternal grandparents; and two sisters, Mary Swanson and Reta Tidblom.
Friends may call 4 p.m. until the time of his funeral at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Jack Busam will officiate.
