Mohawk FFA has banquet

SYCAMORE - The Mohawk High School FFA chapter had its 54th annual banquet April 12.

The major fundraiser done by the chapter is fruit sales. The top three sales people recognized at the banquet were Darby Walton, first; Jarred Shellhouse, second; and Meghan Chaffee, third. The other fundraiser done by the chapter is the fall barbecue. The top three salesmen were Meghan Chaffee, first; Brett Spencer, second; and Lindsay and Emily Daniel, third. The overall fundraiser salesperson was Chaffee.

Chaffee, Sabrina McDermott, Jarred Shellhouse and Erika Coldiron received awards for their academic excellence. Lindsay Daniel, Deon Morter, Grant Price, Shellhouse and Walton are to receive state FFA degrees at the state convention in May. Robert Gilliland is to receive his American degree in October at the national convention. Lindsay Daniel was selected in the top four in the state of Ohio for excelling in her supervised agricultural experience in veterinary medicine and is to receive an award at the state convention.

Freshman Austin Morter, sophomore Ciara Long, Walton, a junior, and senior Donny Smith received the 110% Award. The Star Awards went to Chaffee, a freshman; sophomore Emily Daniel, Shellhouse, a junior, and senior Candace Lease. The honorary chapter degree went to Bo Trusty.

The 2012-13 officer team is Shellhouse, president; Deon Morter, vice president; Kayla Draper, secretary; Lindsay Daniel, treasurer; Emily Daniel, reporter; Walton, Sentinel Career and Technology Center; and Grant Price, student adviser.
