Erwin-led Bucks drop Rams

UPPER SANDUSKY - Tyler Erwin turned in a solid pitching performance and knocked in a pair of runs Friday as Buckeye Central upended Upper Sandusky 3-1 in North Central Conference play.

Erwin struck out five and scattered three hits and four walks for the Bucks (18-5, 7-3 NCC). He also tripled.

Adam Paynter and Justin Herrnstein both lined two singles and scored for Buckeye Central, Thomas Kaple singled and scored and Jordan Herrnstein had a single and RBI.

Alex Kenner doubled for the Rams, and Alec Oney scored in the seventh inning. Andy Meddings suffered the loss.

Miscues cost Calvert

SANDUSKY - Sandusky scored six unearned runs Friday to fuel an 8-2 win over Calvert.

"Alec [Brickner] pitched really well, but we can't give good teams extra outs, and that was what hurt us tonight," Calvert coach Matt Coleman said.

"We had four errors that accounted for six unearned runs," he said. "In addition, we left 10 runners stranded on base. We need to improve our situational hitting as we head down the stretch."

Calvert (11-6) mustered only five singles, one each by Derek Herzog, Matt Frank, Ryan Huss, Brendan Deats and Austin Perry.

Herzog and Eric Elchert both scored.

Brickner fell to 4-2, but fanned eight.

Brady McKillips drove in two runs and doubled for the Blue Streaks (16-5) and Jacob Walters doubled and scored.

Garrett Newton added two runs and two singles and Lucas Will scored twice and singled to help Derrick Kirkwood get the win.

Tigers find the answer

ATTICA - Mohawk took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Seneca East countered that in a big way in the third Friday on the way to a Midland Athletic League win.

The Tigers (17-5, 5-2 MAL) pounded out nine runs in the third frame and Billy Diehm (4-1) fanned 12 en route to victory.

Ethan Caudill drove in two runs with a double and single for Seneca East, Elliott Lee chased in two runs and singled, Dalton Wise hit two singles and Jordan Bowerman scored twice.

Andrew Loose took the loss for the Warriors. Aric Shock singled twice and Nathan Weinandy singled and scored.
