The Wyandot County Sheriff's Office was called to an accident early Friday morning on TH 29 in Wyandot County which claimed the life of a Sycamore

resident.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, a 911 call was received at 2:54 a.m. reporting a vehicle was on fire along TH 29 west of TH 37 in Tymochtee Township. Upon arrival at the scene, a Wyandot County sheriff's deputy found the fire already had consumed the vehicle. Examination of the vehicle found what appeared to be the remains of a human body.

Deputies discerned the name of the registered owner of the vehicle, a 2007 GMC Acadia, and found the last known driver of the vehicle to be Levi J. Danner, 21, of rural Sycamore. A search was conducted of Danner's residence, and he was not located. Deputies made contact with his family, who believed he was the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident, according to the news release.

The release also stated the crash site was consistent with Danner's last known location and the location of his residence, and was a normal travel route.

The initial investigation of the scene found the vehicle appeared to have been eastbound on TH 29 and struck a tree head-on, then spun to the left side and struck another tree. The release stated the impact appeared to have caused a fire to ignite in the engine area.

Further investigation in daylight showed the vehicle had gone off the roadway on the north side of TH 29, continued eastbound through the grassy ditch area, then struck the first tree. According to the news release, damage to the vehicle was consistent with a high rate of speed, and the accident was concurrent with a curve in the roadway.

The Wyandot County coroner, Dr. Joseph Sberna, was called to the scene, and an autopsy was to be conducted at the Lucas County Coroner's Office, according to the release.

The sheriff's office was also assisted at the scene by McCutchenville Fire Department, Sycamore EMS, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office.

The crash remained under investigation Friday afternoon.

Danner's death notice is on page 4A.
