New Riegel clips Eagles' wings

NEW RIEGEL - New Riegel took an early lead, only to see Liberty-Benton fly in front with a five-run third inning. However the Blue Jackets responded with six in the bottom of the frame and shut out the Eagles from there, posting an 11-6 victory.

Megan Mathias had a home run to pace the Blue Jacket offense while Stacey Wank doubled twice, singled and drove in two runs. Morgan Noftz added two base hits, three stolen bases, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Also for New Riegel (15-4), Taylor Kirian had a pair of base hits and scored twice, Paige Noftz doubled and scored twice, Sandra Acree had two base hits and Taylor Arbogast had an RBI.

Kirian picked up the win in the circle, striking out nine and allowing one earned run in seven innings of work.

H-L hits 21

BETTSVILLE - Thirteen turned out to be a lucky number for Hopewell-Loudon. That was the amount of runs the Chieftains tallied in the first inning against Bettsville. H-L went on to post a 21-0 victory over the Bobcats.

In her three at bats, Lauren Trumpler homered and doubled twice, driving in four runs and scoring three. Katie Brickner doubled, singled and drove in five runs.

Also for H-L, Hailee Hill had a pair of RBIs while Abby Park, Alicia Frank, Racquel Hossler, Kelsey Coppus and Kassie Welly also drove in runs.

Hill scored five times, Aubrey Affholder crossed the plate four times and Hossler and Park scored twice each.

Wurm shuts down SE

ATTICA - Buckeye Central's Morgan Wurm and Seneca East's Rachel Bauman each had outstanding days, but Wurm's was just a little better. Each struck out six, and each allowed just six hits, but the Buckettes were able to scratch out two run of Bauman in the first inning which held up for a 2-0 Buckeye Central victory.

Hannah Heydinger and Brooke Myers drove home runs for the Buckettes (13-7) with Kelly Redmon and Taylor Hanes crossing the plate. Maddie Ehresman also added two hits.

Cameil Ruffing had three of Seneca East's six hits.

The Tigers drop to 11-7.

Correll strong, but TC falls

Paige Correll allowed just three hits, didn't walk a batter and had nine strikeouts, but was saddled with a tough-luck loss as the Tornadoes fell to Willard, 3-2.

Willard led, 3-0, going to the bottom of the sixth, but TC rallied with a run in the sixth and seventh before just falling short.

Anna Kuzma singled in a run for the Tornadoes, while Correll doubled.

TC fell to 2-18, 0-8 in the Northern Ohio League.
