SYCAMORE - First National Bank in Sycamore was praised at a Sycamore Village Council meeting Tuesday night. The institution has provided $2,000 towards the construction of a new shelter house at Veterans Memorial Park, according to council president Vicki Weininger, who thanked them for their "generous donation."

With an EPA-issued permit-to-install in hand, council pushed ahead with a plan for a new water treatment facility by authorizing Mayor Matt Boucher to apply for $600,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding.

Two public meetings will be held at 5 p.m. May 1 and 15 at village hall, as required by the program. Rural Community Assistance Partnership representative Roberta Acosta was on hand to advise council and is to submit the application in May. She said a grant award could be issued possibly in June.

The first meeting will entail discussing CDBG in general while the second meeting covers the project, cost and rates.

The village is anticipating financing $1.1 million to complement a $500,000 grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
