FOSTORIA - Fostoria spotted Rossford four runs in the first inning and turned back a rally in the seventh Wednesday to claim a 7-6 Northern Buckeye Conference win.
The Redmen (8-10, 3-4 NBC) closed the gap with two runs in the second and another in the fourth before vaulting ahead 7-4 with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Winning pitcher Zak Keels (2-4) helped his own cause with a grand slam.
Kaleb Bemis added a run and two RBIs off two doubles, Brennan Bader scored three times and belted two singles and Chris Hampton had a single and run against the Bulldogs.
Deats' blast, Elchert's K's lock up win
Brendan Deats padded the lead with a two-run homer in the sixth and Eric Elchert struck out 14 and allowed only two earned runs Wednesday in Calvert's 8-3 Midland Athletic League win over Carey.
The Senecas led 5-1 after the fifth, but Carey pushed across two runs in the top of the sixth to close the gap.
However, Deats' blast fueled a three-run surge and Calvert (11-5, 4-2 MAL) turned away the Blue Devils in the seventh to preserve the win for Elchert (2-1).
Deats added another run, Alec Brickner triple and scored, Cody Behm had two runs and a single and Brian Gruss lined two singles.
Dillon Sammons suffered the loss. He also doubled.
Matt Holsinger smacked a solo homer.
SE rains down on NR
NEW RIEGEL - Seneca East held a slim 3-2 lead over New Riegel going into the sixth inning. The Tigers then plated eight runs to take home an 11-2 victory. Dark skies and rain caused the game to be called after six innings.
Ethan Caudill helped pace the Tigers with a double, a triple and two runs scored. Billy Diehm had a pair of base hits and drove in four runs. Kyle Depinet tripled, singled and drove in three. Jason Branham and Dalton Wise each added RBIs.
Jordan Bowerman picked up the win on the mound, striking out four in six innings.
Josh Nye and Jake Dryfuse each had a pair of base hits for New Riegel. Brandyn Reinhart and Brady Hall each had RBIs.
Bucks scratch out win
NEW WASHINGTON - Adam Paynter scored twice and Justin Herrnstein drove in a pair of runs - with neither getting a hit - as Buckeye Central doubled up North Central Conference foe Lucas 4-2 on Wednesday.
The Bucks (16-4, 6-2) led 2-0 after the first inning and slowly built a 4-0 lead by the end of the sixth inning before the Cubs (1-12, 0-8) plated two runs in the top of the seventh.
Winning pitcher Jacob Zeiter (2-0) helped his own cause with a run, RBI and single. Tyler Erwin singled and scored, Thomas Kaple lined two singles and Justin Miller knocked in a run.
Warriors dominate Bobcats
SYCAMORE - Wes Shaw twirled a one-hitter and Nathan Weinandy drove in five runs Wednesday to fuel Mohawk's 10-0 Midland Athletic League win over Bettsville.
Shaw struck out five in the five-inning game for the Warriors (7-6, 3-1 MAL), and Weinandy doubled, singled and scored.
Devon Fredritz scored twice and doubled, Mitchell Brown doubled and Jonathon Morter lined two singles.
Kennedy Hossler took the loss for the Bobcats. Jacob Hossler singled.
