House history course offered
FREMONT - The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, is offering "Tracing Your House's History." Head librarian and veteran genealogist Becky Hill is to instruct the class 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Hayes Museum. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students through high school. Emergencyn training offered at Terra
Tornadoes have struck Ohio every year since 1940 except 1988. According to data from the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, there were 48 tornadoes in Ohio in 2010 and 37 in 2011.
The North Central Ohio CERT team is sponsoring a training blitz at Terra State Community College this weekend that is to provide training to coordinate volunteers, as well as those affiliated with CERT, Red Cross, Salvation Army and others, should a tornado operation be activated in your community. The training blitz set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is free.

Have issues with the federal government?
U.S. Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, is to conduct one-on-one meetings 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday on the second floor of the Seneca County Annex, 117 E. Market St., Tiffin.
The meetings give constituents the opportunity to sit down with Latta to discuss any matters, problems or cases they are experiencing with the federal government.
Ohio auditor to visit Ballreich's Tuesday
Ballreich's Potato Chips is to host State Auditor Dave Yost for a plant tour and discussion on small business growth.
The visit is to begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Guidance to overcome poverty
A "Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin' by World" class is to begin next Tuesday. Ten people are registered, but five seats are open.
The class is to meet 10 a.m.-noon every Tuesday through Sept. 11 at the Tiffin YMCA. Participants will learn how to make changes that will improve their financial status. Transportation and babysitting are
available.

Streets to be closed
Miami Street from Scott Street to Fairfield Street will be closed from 3:30-4:30 p.m. May 4 for the dedication of the new Tiffin University recreation center.
CPR course offered
Tiffin Fire Rescue Division, as part of EMS Week 2012, plans to offer a free American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED course to Tiffin residents. The class is to be 1-5 p.m. May 20 at the No. 1 fire station, 53 S. Monroe St.
Participants who complete the course are to receive a Heart Saver CPR/AED card good for two years at no cost. The class is available to any age group as long as they are able to complete the skills as CPR is a physical activity.
Class size is limited, and reservations are requested. Only sign up if you plan to attend, so as many people can benefit from the class as possible. Call (419) 448-5444 to register.
Artwork needed for auction, show
Tiffin Art Guild is gearing up for its annual auction fundraiser and "Masterpiece in the Making" Art Festival and Show.
The TAG auction with a theme of "Americana" is June 10. The preview opens at 11 a.m. at the Tiffin Train Depot on North Monroe Street. The auction is to begin around noon. A sign-up sheet has been placed in the gallery for TAG members.
The art guild depends on auction proceeds for expenses and projects.

The 5th Annual "A Masterpiece in the Making" Art Festival and Show is to take place Sept. 8 along the Sandusky River on Frost Parkway in Tiffin. This juried, fine art show is accepting applications through Aug. 20. The art show is an extension of the Jazzin' Tiffin music festival. The guild is to sponsor a kid zone where children can work on art projects.

WSOS provides $18K in heating help to Seneca
The Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program which ended March 30, has served an estimated 2,600 households in 2012, according to program administrator WSOS Community Action Commission Inc.
In Seneca County, WSOS served 108 households for a total of $18,337 through EHEAP in March.
In March, 441 households were approved for assistance from EHEAP, compared to 367 approved in February.
